Its great when people ask me questions that have nothing to do with politics – they are really trying to get to know the real me if we haven’t had the opportunity to meet over the years. For me, its more important to get to know people on a personal level, and I applaude people for doing the same when they meet me. After all, we have to feel comfortable working together if you to choose to elect me to represent you.
Here are a few great questions that I’ve been asked so far:
Besides having a good cup of coffee at one of our local spots…Thats an easy question! Hiking, walking or riding on the Caledon Trailway. With or without friends and family. Its such a tranquil setting. When I want time to think, catch my breath or enjoy the outdoors, I love nothing more. We’re lucky to have this right in our backyards! And with community connections along the way, it makes it easy to grab a coffee or snack in Caledon East, Inglewood, Cheltenham or Terra Cotta up our way.
Favourite spot in Caledon?
Ok, since I already said the Caledon Trailway, I will answer with something new… The reason why so many of us call Caledon home is because we love the scenery. The rolling hills, lush landscape, sense of community no matter what village or hamlet you’re in, its hard to stick to one spot. How about 1 spot per season? In the summer it has to be the credit river, floating down on a tube from Inglewood to Terra Cotta. (Ok, we only did that once and learned our lesson on how the river winds.) In the fall it has to be Belfountain. The cool breezes while hiking up and down the escarpment sure do make a difference. The winter is an easy one, home. I love watching my girls enjoy the snow. Building castles and letting their imaginations run wild. Spring has to be one of my favourites. Not because of the end of the slushy weather, but because this is when Caledon comes to life again. New animals are born. Buds start popping up on trees. Spring is definitely my wandering time – not settling down in one location for too long so that I can move on to the next place to watch it renew.
Well hey, “thank you very much” for asking this question. Elvis Presley. I’m a lover of all music. Next time we run into each other, ask what my playlist looks like, it will surely boggle your mind.
What type of food do you enjoy the most?
Fish and Chips. And of course ANYTHING my wife makes. 😉
What is your favourite drink
Seriously? Follow me on Instagram, you’ll see a trend!
Who do you look up to?
My wife. She’s a pretty powerful cookie!
My cat. We’re the only boys in the house. We can relate to each other pretty well.
Is it true you vlog?
I like to document my adventures – and my kids love watching them. I’ve been slow at uploading this summer – kind of a lot going on. No excuses. I’ll be back up and running soon enough with all of my backlog.
What inspired you to run in this election?
I started volunteering and serving on the Library Board and Caledon Community Services Board because I wanted to be involved and knowledgeable of programs and offering throughout the town so that not only could I help mold these, but be able to share of their value and help direct others to their unique offerings. I saw running for ward 2 area councillor as a way to represent the people in my community as the next step. I love where I live. I am grateful that my ancestors chose to settle here. And I am joyful that my wife and I chose Caledon to raise our family and help to make this the best place to live for generations to come!
Why do you want to subject yourself to this “political punishment”?
I am passionate about my community and want the best for it – I’m here to be the voice of my community to make sound judgements based on research and data. We need good people. I love where I live, and I’m here to be the person to represent my family, friends and neighbours.
What do you think of everyone else that’s running in this election?
People that are passionate about their community and have a good head on their shoulders are always welcome to run to represent the people, so long as they do not have ulterior motives, or objectives.
