The Caledon Enterprise has asked me to submit a few words (175 worth) about myself for an upcoming special election issue due out in mid October.
Municipal elections are important. Not only do they happen right in your backyard – they affect your direct surrounding areas – the area where you choose to live, raise a family and settle. It’s important to research the candidates on your ballot carefully to make sure their thoughts and beliefs align to yours. Look what they’ve done for the community. How they have made it a better place, and how do they advocate on its behalf? How have they been involved in the past? The past says a lot about the present and future!
Christopher Gilmer: Caledon Ward 2 Area Candidate Q&A
Christopher Gilmer is a Town of Caledon community advocate and volunteer with deep family roots – in 1904 his family settled in Terra Cotta. Living in Mayfield West, Ward 2, he has seen a lot of growth and change. This is the time to make sure we have responsible growth happening in the area. This includes pressing items like increased traffic, road conditions, continued support for community hubs, green spaces that connect us, preserving our heritage, as well as smart economic development that makes sense for the town.
With a background in design, PR, communications and marketing, Chris has worked with top global brands including BlackBerry, (PwC)PricewaterhouseCoopers and ROCKWOOL, lending his skills and expertise to better inform and communicate with residents.
Christopher serves on the Caledon Public Library Board of Directors and Caledon Community Services Board of Directors, as well as involved with many community building and fundraising initiatives.
“I am here to represent my family, friends and neighbours to continue and make this the best place to live for generations to come!” – Chris
